A significant feature of the Programme is the degree of control and scrutiny exercised by the Bulgarian Ministry of Finance, which funded the project itself. Regular quarterly reports were submitted to the Minister of Finance, containing a description of the activities undertaken, issues or concerns we had about programme delivery and recommendations for improving the effectiveness of customs controls. Weekly reports on the activities of the mobile teams were also submitted directly to the Minister by the Crown Agents’ Principal Customs Advisor to enable strict monitoring of their activities and results.
