The BCA has taken a number of concrete steps to improve the levels of integrity within the Agency. These have included the publication of a code of ethics and the introduction of new legal requirements for customs staff to declare their assets.

Crown Agents has assisted in raising integrity through the delivery of a number of seminars to over 100 BCA staff. The automation of some processes, the development of books of instructions and the creation of an internal audit unit have also directly contributed to increased integrity throughout the service.
