Crown Agents and its Bulgarian colleagues raised funds to support a school for disadvantaged children

Crown Agents invited its Bulgarian colleagues and friends to a charitable golf tournament held on Friday, 26th of October. The day was aimed at supporting the Traditzia Foundation’s continued commitment to the Vassil Levski primary school in the village of Vidrare, Municipality of Pravetz. The school has 65 disadvantaged children between the ages of 7 and 15 who are of roma origin, from poor families or with mental and physical disabilities.

Among the players and the guests at the tournament were representatives of the Ministry of Finance -  including the National Customs Agency, the National Revenue Agency, the Financial Intelligence Agency and the State Receivables Collection Agency - the British Embassy as well as business organisations. All helped in raising funds by buying tickets in a charitable raffle, organised by Crown Agents and the Traditzia Foundation. The generous raffle prizes were kindly donated by a number of business organisations. The new British Ambassador to Bulgaria, Steve Williams, drew the winning tickets for the raffle.

At the award ceremony for the golf, the first prize was won by the team from the British Embassy and Crown Agents’ Programme Director, Brian Banks, awarded them with the Crown Agents Trophy. A  multinational team from Denmark and Sweden were runners-up.

Crown Agents and Traditzia believe that such events are a very good way for attracting the attention of the business community to the problems of disadvantaged people. The school in Vidrare, which will receive the donation from the golf tournament, is one of the more than 30 social institutions supported by the Traditzia Foundation. It was established with the support of the British Embassy to help socially disadvantaged artisans to help themselves through craft consultation, art therapy, business education and direct market access trough a gallery opened in Sofia.  The result is the preservation of Bulgarian traditions, and a self-reliant life and sustainable income for the most vulnerable groups.

Crown Agents is happy to continue supporting such worthy charitable causes.
