The Crown Agents team in Bulgaria followed one of the most respected local traditions by  handing out martenitsi.. The advisors and the Bulgarian staff of the company bought martenitsi from the Traditiza (Tradition) Foundation which helps socially excluded Bulgarian artisans to use their skills in order to help themselves. Traditzia promotes handicrafts created by children's art therapy groups in social institutions, people with disabilities and artisans in remote villages. The martenitsi, which the Crown Agents team bought from Traditzia, were made by single mothers, orphans and children and adults with mental or physical disabilities.

Crown Agents is happy to continue supporting the worthy cause of the Traditzia Foundation. The Bulgarian team of the international development company has so far organised two charity events, aimed at raising funds for the institutions supported by Traditzia – a golf tournament and a Crown Agents evening at the foundations’ gallery.

(*) Martenitsa (plural - martenitsi) is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and worn, on clothes or around wrists, from March 1 until the first time an individual sees a stork, swallow or budding tree. This is a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the upcoming spring. The month of March, according to Bulgarian folklore, marks the beginning of springtime.
